I started my software development journey designing websites. Adobe fireworks and Photoshop was the main tool doing those hard kicking designs. Using this tool can be still helpful but there are so many new tools to use. Using pen and paper still handy when it comes to sketching your ideas but using the right tool for the task would be more easier.
Logo sketching using pen and paper.
Whale was the first thing came up to my mind when I started building my website. But why I choose this marine mammal? Because they can swim so deep and big enough to conquer the vastness of the ocean but and the same time they are some calm and soft at the same time :)

And then after doing the sketch I trace it using AdobeXD and create multiple sizes for differient screens for mobile and desktop. The main goal was to choose "Progress over Perfection"

Creating color palettes and font family.
Preparing the foundation of the design and having a good sense of mixing things out will go a long way. For the fonts and choose Roboto Slab for the header and Open sans for the content.
Color palette is also important too since this will give a proper boost for the UI/UX.

Light and Dark Mode.
Nowadays having a dark mode toggler is the main new de facto standard for up to date websites. Big names like Facebook, Youtube and even Apple have dark mode so why don't join the bandwagon?

Final Thoughts
Doing designs can be really easy when you have the proper preparation and the right tool to be use. Having this ahead of time and making sure all choices you made are exactly want you want.
My design process is still bad and can be improve. In AdobeXD you can use a feature called component where you can set a master and instances component so you can reuse many components with different variations.
Also creating a prototype will also be a great help since you can create the app and play the design with interaction without building any code by just connecting it. You can also do some test directly on your mobile device.
But keep in mind that the main goal is to choose "Progress over Perfection". Creating things right away with minimum time effort is more vital than to have a perfect idea with a wasted time.
